Random House, Inc. Spanish-language Titles for Valentines!

Here is a look at a few books on the topic of love and romance in Spanish from Random House, Inc.

Penelope Parker
Los hombres (a veces, por desgracia) siempre vuelven
(Men (Unfortunately) Always Come Back)

This fascinating book helps women understand why they want the man that made their life a living hell…back. This counterintuitive phenomenon is not so uncommon afterall. Parker explores the reasons why some women can't let go of a bad relationship and why they keep falling into the same trap of ultimately hoping that their man will finally change. Self-esteem, self-worth and interpersonal relationships are discussed along with ways to improve and enhance them. A must read for women, or friends of women, who keep ending up with the same man, literally.

Doris Lessing
La grieta
(The Cleft)

Eminent novelist and recent Nobel Prize-winner, Lessing offers an alternative origin story for the human race, indirectly recalling the alternate world speculations of her Canopus in Argos SF novels. Positing that the primal human stock was female rather than male, Lessing invents a cult of ancient women called the Clefts, a name derived, in part, from that essential part of female anatomy. The story of the Clefts is bookended by the journal of a Roman historian, who interprets ancient documents stating that females were originally impregnated by a fertilizing wind or a wave, to give birth to female children.
