Deepak Chopra, bestselling author of over 60 books and a leader in the fields of emerging spirituality, mind-body healing, and holistic living, will lead a new imprint named Deepak Chopra Books for Random House, Inc.’s Crown Publishing Group. The inaugural Deepak Chopra Books list will debut in 2012.

We are delighted for our Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group colleagues—especially our author’s editor Jordan Pavlin. A Visit from the Goon Squad is now a piece of Pulitzer Prize history and achievement unrivalled in book publishing: since 1919, books published by imprints now part of Random House have been honored in the five literary Pulitzer categories 103 times.

Crown Publishing Group (U.S.) and Chatto & Windus (U.K.) to launch new transatlantic fiction imprint, Hogarth, in Summer 2012.

The Crown Publishing Group, a division of Random House, Inc. in the U.S. and Chatto & Windus, an imprint of Vintage Publishing, a division of The Random House Group in the U.K., jointly announce today the launch of a new imprint, Hogarth, dedicated exclusively to publishing fiction. Its mission will be to publish contemporary, voice-driven, character-rich stories that entertain, inform, and move readers. All Hogarth titles will be published in print and digital editions.

The New Yorker profile subjects to author THE TOOLS for Random House English, German, and Spanish publication.

The Random House Publishing Group has acquired English- German- and Spanish-language publilcation rights for its international sister Random House territorial divisions to The Tools, whose authors, Barry Michels and Dr. Phil Stutz, were profiled in a galvanizing, widely-discussed article in the March 21 issue of The New Yorker. The piece described the revolutionary method for helping their patients—many of them highly creative—regularly defeat such personal success-limiting forces as anger, insecurity, and anxiety.

Alfred A. Knopf Books for Young Readers reveals title and cover for final book in Christopher Paolini’s #1 bestselling Inheritance Cycle.

Eagerly awaited by millions around the world, the triumphant conclusion to Christopher Paolini’s Inheritance Cycle will arrive this fall, it was announced today by Nancy Hinkel, Vice President, Publishing Director of Alfred A. Knopf Books for Young Readers, an imprint of Random House Children’s Books. Following the #1 bestselling novels Eragon, Eldest, and Brisingr, the fourth and final book in the series will be titled Inheritance, a fitting designation for the concluding novel in Paolini’s epic fantasy.

Statement from Random House, Inc. regarding its U.S. e-Book sales model.

Random House, Inc. is adopting the agency model for e-book sales in the United States effective March 1, 2011. Going forward, Random House will set consumer prices for the e-books we publish, and we will provide retailers with a comission for each sale. There are no changes to our terms of sale for physical books.

One Day, movie starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess and based on bestselling novel, sets summer release date.

Focus Features has announced a domestic theatrical release date of Friday, July 8, 2011 for One Day, directed by Lone Scherfig. David Nicholls has adapted his internationally praised and bestselling novel One Day into the screenplay for One Day. Academy Award nominee Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess star in One Day, a co-production in the unique partnership of Random House Inc.’s Random House Films division and Focus.

A note from Markus Dohle about the extraordinary number of highest awards and honors Random House Children’s Books, Random House Audio, and Random House, Inc, Adult have just received from the American Library Association, including for the second straight year, the John Newbery Medal

For the second consecutive year, a Random House Children’s Books title has won the highest honor in children’s literature: the John Newbery Medal. Also, a Listening Library audio has received the coveted Odyssey Award for the best English-language audiobook produced for children and/or young adults. These and several other of the highest and most prestigious honors for our print and audio titles were announced this morning at the American Library Association mid-winter meetings in San Diego.
